Here are some photos of our drive south from Český Krumlov, Czech Republic to Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. We were pretty excited about this drive, as all our adventures in Austria to date have been inundated by tremendous green pastures and marvellous snow-capped peaks and this journey was no different.
Commencing our scenic mountain drive in Salzburg, we leisurely followed the Austrian Alps southwest to the town of Lofer where we spent the afternoon and early evening exploring the mountainous surrounds of our riverside campground. The next morning we continued our drive south to the border of Hohe Tauern National Park. Upon reaching the national park border wet weather and low cloud appeared out of nowhere and prevented us from driving the Grossglockner High Alpine Road. Nevertheless we continued south through the mountains on a slightly lower cloud free road and enjoyed spectacular alpine scenery all the way to the Italian border.
Thanks again Austria.
