After a brief stopover in Mostar, we made the short drive south to set up camp in the small town of Blagaj. Entering Blagaj we followed a number of well-marked signs that led to a picturesque riverside campsite. Upon entering the property we were instantly greeted by the eccentric manager. Following a lengthy and detailed discussion over the logistics of parking our campervan “Willy”, we were directed to a perfect site directly aside the Buna River.
The next morning we arose to perfect blue skies and set out to explore Dervish Monastery, Blagaj Tekke before commencing our drive south to the Croatian coast. While our explorations in Blagaj and Mostar were only brief, both towns proved to be worthwhile stops. Set amongst dramatic rocky highlands and situated on perfectly blue rivers, the two towns typify Bosnia and Herzegovina’s immense natural beauty and cultural diversity.
